I have found within the past month that the books that are the hardest to read in the beginning are often most likely to leave a lasting inmpression; that is simly why I will continue reading this book. The road is so confusing and hard to begin reading, especially the first couple pages. Cormac McCarthy writes in this style that choppier than most books, leaving me begging for more of certain snips. Who is he? Where are they at? And why is everything so "bare"? These are the kinds of questions that are bugging me more than anything, but that's why this also makes me believe that it'll end up being an amazing story.

Indeed it was an amazing story Karli. I completely agree with your statements though. When first reading The Road, I didn't understand why everything was so choppy, (and my font was large print which was even more confusing), punctuation wasn't correct, and the undetailed characters were hard to follow along with. Once finishing the book though, I found those "problems" to be great assets to the book. We didn't need to know who the boy, or papa, or old man were, because in all reality they could of been anyone. With the punctuation we discussed that it was just a part of Cormac's writing and effectiveness throughout the book. All of the things that seemed wrong in The Road actually ended up to be magnificent aspects when looking back and discussing the book.
