I wish the Disney movie version of Bambi was not so well known and did not overshadow this wonderful book. It has been years since I read it, but I remember how much I loved it as a kid. I plan to look for a copy so that I can reread it!

This might be my favorite book in so many way. Even though I first read it a couple of years ago, not as a child, I really love it. Definitely not the Disney Bambi. Incredible, moving yet peaceful. Bambi is lovely.

I must have been some where between 9 - 12 years old when i first read this book. i remember crying during the movie but the book effected me just as deeply if not more so. I think that this is a book that every one should read. In terms of the theme man - vs - nature it has left a lasting imprint on my soul.

The perennial children's classic came to me when I was about 15 - I remember the orange and white cover with the black lettering for the author's name. I was lost in this wonderful little book, but lost it and for years couldn't find another copy. This was over 30 years ago and we didn't have inernet and Amazon then! I did acquire another copy via Herculean means, but lost that in a fire! So it is once again on my list as I need to re-read it - my 15 year old mind loved the animals (still do) but I think there is a much deeper message within its pages that my 49 year old mind needs to know about! I hope there will be some reviews on it here!
