Allen's second book is a beautiful read. Once again she has created a world that is effortlessly magical. I love the character development and interaction. It's always a nice world to escape to when Sarah Addison Allen is the creator ;)

Entertaining and light - but, again, two or three pages short of an Alice Hoffman story. I kept hoping the winter and snow would play a larger role. Not bad but not great. Although, I think I will go get my red sweater . . .

Allen's books are different. This one has possibilities, but not the humor of the first-Garden Spells. Enjoying it.

This is a story of secrets and forgiveness. The characters are wonderful: Josey with her secret closet that is loaded with candy and sweet snacks. Della Lee who shows up one day to live in Josey's closet. Josey's mother Margaret who won't forgive her daughter but who wants her help every day. There's wonderful Chloe who has a great relationship with books and won't forgive her boyfriend Jake. All of this within the first chapter!

Each chapter is named for a candy: Everlasting Gobstoppers, SweeTarts, Lemon Drops, Rock Candy, etc. Read this book if you like a book "brimming with warmth, with, and a sprinkling of magic. . .a spellbinding tale of friendship, love and the enchanting possibilities of every new day." (from the back cover)

Like Garden Spells, this has very nice cover art! Sarah Addison Allen has a great talent.
