The Diviners is well written and reaches out to its readers. Morag's isolation reflects the distant relationship between the protagonist and her daughter. Initially, Morag seems bitter and without a clear depth in character. Purposely thought out, Laurence takes her readers from past to present day. Her meticulous writing sounds poetic with intensely gripping verbs to involve her readers. Although our author had a short-lived career, Laurence's literature is not undervalued. The words leap off the page as the The Diviners is a mother's personal struggle to reconnect with her daughter.”
“I read this many years ago, when it was first published and simply did not like it. The second time around, with some maturity and fresh outlook, i saw the beauty of this very wonderfully written book and its poignant story.”

I was pleasantly surprised by the moderness of the text, however. The story concerns a woman's quest to find love, while finding herself. A real "Independant Woman, throw ya hands up" type of tale from the 80s. I quite enjoyed the character of Morag. ”
