Audible Books to recommend 545 books / 274 members / 1211 posts I thought it would be nice to have a list of books that people have read that are on audible (downloads from Audible.com & library CDs are my choices). I've created quite a wish list, making sure that it is listing books that can be listened to -- otherwise, no point in thinking about it. We are so lucky to have such an incredible selection of books to listen to now -- it's a whole new world and just in 5 years! I used to read 3 books a year if I was lucky -- now it's more like 30 books now that I can listen -- I love it!!

When members write down the books they have read -- give at lease a two word critique, even if as simple as the star system -- it's more helpful to see that than the list of books one plans to read. Also, mentioning the book name in Comments allows the reader to see what you are referring to when reading from iPhone!
I Listen to Podiobooks 36 books / 48 members / 25 posts Hey, we all love paper books and even standard audiobooks. But lots of busy people are discovering a whole new way to enjoy books -- serialized audio!

This group is for fans of this new method of distribution, we call these a podcast novel or a podiobook. If you are one, come along with us for the ride! We like lots of other books and delivery methods, too!
Audiobook Fans 15 books / 24 members / 27 posts Audiobook Fans,

Take the earbuds out of your ears and come on out and say hi. Twelve years ago, someone loaned me two cassette audio books; a true adventure tale called, Heart of The Sea by N. Philbrick and a second, a memoir called Times of My Life by Max Frankel. Bingo! I've been hooked ever since.

Don't get me wrong, I still turn pages at night, but I now out pace audio for paper, 3 to 1.
Audiobooks have given me a reach far beyond my capacity as a rather slow reader. A great narrator can make the spoken word experience even more memorable (at times, it can be breathtaking). And trust me, there are 100's of great voices out there (Grover Gardner anybody?).

As you well know, with the latest technology we're no longer limited by selection, availability or price, thanks in large part to Audible.com. I now never travel without a fully charged Iphone preloaded with my next set of audiobooks. And hopefully if this reading group is successful, I'll never travel without your excellent recommendations. So zing away, lets get thing started!

Mrs. Gaetano's English Class, Period 4, Fourth Quarter 20 books / 24 members / 103 posts Welcome to your fourth quarter outside reading book project! As a class you are certainly growing in your ability to discuss literature.

1. I would like you to write a book review where you analyze the book using literary elements (characterization, setting, point of view, theme, etc.). Notice, this is not a plot summary, but an analysis of the book. Think back to the paragraphs that we wrote in class concerning “A Lamb to the Slaughter” and “I’ve Got Gloria”. It should help you understand what you should include in your project.
2. Along with the analysis I would like you to include a quote that exemplifies the character, a theme, or the understanding of the book.
3. Finally, I want you to end this review with a recommendation. Who would like this book? What other books can you relate your book to?

After you are done with this analysis I would like you to comment on your classmates’ reviews. This requires you to make a thoughtful comment and to ask a question. You are required to respond to at least three people. This project is due on June 6, 2008.

1 book = less than 250
