This is a novel for anyone who has felt inadequater for not having it all. Our heroine feels guilty because she's not the perfect Stepford mom, and even worse doesn't want to be. When she sets out to solve the murder of one of her perfect neighbors, she finds that things are only perfect on the surface. An old romance only gets in the way of the story, and we're never sure why she was so mad at an ex-friend who never really led her on. Instead of being the friend he needed, she deserted him, and then she was mad at him. However, that side story doesn't ruin the mystery and this is an enjoyable read.

Sad and touching, this book truly examines how hum-drum suburban life can become

Again, I love her characters. Any mother that has ever felt like the pressure of motherhood will make her burst will relate to this story.

Not bad for bad. I actually had to finish it so I know it wasn't completely boring. I DID feel for Kate. And how refreshing to hear from a woman who isn't screaming about being a good mommy, who admits that parenting is downright boring at times, and who admits to being tempted by old boyfriends. Honesty can be fun (and reassuring).

This was pretty funny. The main character is a girl who moves from NY to the Connecticut suburbs and uncovers a murder mystery. But my favorite part of the book is how she feels compared to all the "Super Mommies" of her community. I feel like that sometimes. Totally related!

Another great recommendation from my friend Kimmie. She knows what I like. I plan to read more of Jennifer Weiner's books.
