The first Sunny Randall story I have read. I liked Sunny and her support cast...easy read, predictable.

As always for me Parker and Sunny are a fun read. The plot of the current story and the continuing saga of Sunny's personal life are equally fun.

Robert B. Parker's "Melancholy Baby" is a great read, although I did guess the ending about halfway through. Still, the chapters are short, the paragraphs are well-written and my attention was easily kept.

This was my first Robert B. Parker book, and I'm already happily onto the next.

Great book -- my second Sunny Randall book and even though I still prefer the Spenser series, this was good too. Can't wait for the next one!

Fourth book in the Sunny Randall series and not, in my opinion, the best but still a pretty good read. If you liked the other books I'm sure you'll find something to like in this one.

Melancholy Baby is the fourth Sunny Randall novel by Robert B. Parker, and I have to say it is really good. I didn't like these novels with my whole heart at first-it seemed a bit unoriginal to start a second PI series and set it in Boston. Sunny was almost "the female Spenser" and I wondered about the inevitable-when are Sunny and Spenser going to cross paths?

Having read Melancholy Baby I hope it is very soon-maybe as a two part crossover. Parker's fantastic ear for dialogue is in full form in this novel-the writing is crisp and interesting. You'll solve the mystery about halfway through the book-and you're supposed to, as the fun involves seeing how Sunny proves what she already knows.

Parker also irons out a lot of the problems I felt existed in the previous three Randall novels, such as Sunny's relationship with her ex-husband and her "dependence" on others to solve her problems. And though Sunny and Spenser do not meet in these pages we do get to see some of the other members of Spenser's circle in this novel. It is a lot of fun for the longtime reader to look at characters we "know" from a different angle.

    Recommended.
