Wow! No wonder Americans are over weight! There's more calories in one dish served at restaurants than a person should have in an entire day! I found out that I'd have to not eat for 4 days to be able to indulge in 1 appetizer served at a restaurant we like going to on special occasions! LOL.

Calling this book a diet or health book is a misnomer. It's not about making good choices; it is simply about making choices that are less bad. And, unfortunately, it isn't even very good at that, either. The questionable math, warped logic, and limited scope all combine to create a tool that...

Easy to use if you eat a lot of fast or pre-made food it is a great. Not much help for those who don't. It just verifies why we don eat fast or pre-made foods.

A fun read for my recent long car ride - - reads like a magazine but had some good information. The book shows what to eat and what not to eat at popular chain restaurants. It also makes general recommendations for different varieties of restaurants: i.e. steakhouse, chinese, thai, etc and also has recommendations for grocery store foods.

An easy way to eat healthy foods and great to reference when eating out. I was shocked at the fat and calorie content in most restaurant dishes.

The books are great for reference. Easy, logically explained swaps. He concentrated alot on sodium content which is a little different, but healthy. Only problem for me is I almost never buy name brands or convenience foods.

What an eye-opener this was. I found out a lot of the foods I thought were good for you were not. I wish there would have been more explanations about why foods were chosen. The only complaint I have is that a lot of the brands shown are not things that I can get in my area.

Some of these swaps were rather no brainers, but others were rather suprising. I usually just assume that chinese food is healthy, but there is a better choice than General's Chicken, one of my favorites.
I think I like the simplistic approach, just the clear statements that show just how you can make healthier choices, without a whole bunch of rhetoric.

The book has some redeeming qualities. The section talking about essential foods and the surprising numbers behind some of our favourite foods was very revealing. The "pick this not that" format is flawed because simply asking a restaurant to hold a certain ingredient like mayo can drop the calorie count by hundreds. A fun guide but nothing substantial in terms of weight loss or control.

This is a really good book that shows you a lot of suprising things regarding food. it helps you make good choices, especially when going out to eat which is usually never healthy but this will help you choose the lesser of the evils. I was really surprised about some of the salads that are out there that are just as bad (if not worse) for you then eating a big mac!
