• Phillipe Oakland: A famous book prize winner now turned into a screen writer. Who lives in One fifth.
• Shiffer Diamond: Divorced twice, this actress returns to New York and is temporarily residing at One Fifth Avenue.
• Enid Merle: Enid lives on the 13th floor of One Fifth Avenue. Never married, she is the 2nd oldest resident and is a well respected and semi-retired gossip columnist.
• Phillip Oakland: Phillip is a divorced twice bachelor living on the 13th floor of One Fifth Avenue next door to his Aunt Enid. Phillip writes screenplays and was once smitten with Shiffer Diamond.
• Roberto: Head doorman at One Fifth Avenue
• Louise Houghton: Elderly woman (oldest resident at One Fifth Avenue) who owns floors 14, 15 & 16. Louise is a well-loved patron of the arts.
• Billy Litchfield: Not entirely sure what his job is - book lists him as being a general concierge to the rich.
• Connie Brewer: Former ballerina now married to Sandy Brewer
• Sandy Brewer: Extremely wealthy hedge fund manager with a weekend home in the Hamptons.
• Mindy Gooch: Middle aged middle class woman - chronically unhappy. Lives on main floor of One Fifth Avenue in a lesser space that was pieced together by combining several rooms that were once the servant's quarters. Mindy is a columnist.
• James Gooch: Bald insecure writer married to Mindy.
• Sam Gooch: Mindy and James Gooch's 13 year old son. Very tech savvy and helps many of the residents at One Fifth Avenue with their computer issues.
• Flossie Davis: Enid's step mother. Flossie had a daughter, Anna, who had Phillip Oakland.
• Redmon Richardly: Publisher for James and Phillip; wife Catherine and at 50, he has a new daughter Sidney.
• Jerry Bochman: One of the division heads at "EC" -Entertainment Conglomerate that purchased Redmond's publishing company.
• Lola Fabrikant: Spoiled daughter to Beetelle and Cem Fabrikant
• Beetelle Fabrikant: Lola's overly involved mother - spoils her rotten wanting all the best for her princess
• Cem Fabrikant: Not sure what his job is yet?
• Brenda Lish: Realtor to Fabrikants
• Annalisa Rice: Once was lawyer but quit job to move to NYC with her husband
• Paul Rice: Was a teacher, now working for a hedge fund - very enamored with his sudden wealth
• Riley: Lawyer friend of Annalise's from back home.
• Emme: Realtor to the Rice couple
• Sandy Brewer: Extremely wealthy hedge fund manager, Paul's boss.
• Connie Brewer: Wife of Sandy; the Brewers have an enormous mansion in the Hamptons.
