    H. P. Lovecraft truly was a master. The stories in this volume are some of the most twisted, strange and disturbing that I've ever read, and they leave a highly lasting impression. If the Twilight Zone TV show ever could have had an inspiration, the tales of Lovecraft might have been it.

I have always been a devout fan of H.P. Lovecraft's supernatural horror stories. This book is basically a collection of many of Lovecraft's most praised wors including "At the Mountains of Madness" and "The Tree".
As I read, i was gleefully immersed, once again in Lovecraft's worlds of dark sneaking secrets and madness triggered by life changing sights and sounds that humans can't understand. It was even interesting to read the first short stories in the book as they were written very early in Lovecraft's career and life. Although these stories are sometimes undeveloped and primitively written, it gives great insight to Lovecraft's origins and nature as a writer.

I absolutely love the vague imagery that Lovecraft uses! He allows your own imagination to conjure up all that is fearful. He really knows how to invoke the fear in you!
