“I've read and enjoyed Child's previous Reacher novels, and was prepared to enjoy this as well - even though the last few have become a bit of the same-old-same-old. Instead, I was astonished by a completely ludicrous plot (including a mob straight out of a Bastille-era B-movie) and characters with no authenticity whatsoever. If that isn't enough, toward the end, Child dishes up anti-American political nonsense -- which, coming from a British ex-pat, is beyond acceptable. I think it's time for Child to retire his Reacher character and perhaps look for a new line of work.”
