This is a fairly simple, easily read book, but I enjoyed it. It is the story of a young girl that falls in love with an older guy, and she never stops loving him. She ends up as a nanny to his little daughter, and she makes herself part of his household (the wife died.) The whole rest of the...

Jude Deveraux got me started reading again 21 years ago with Knight In Shining Armor and i have picked up all her books since then. But in the recent years, there has only been one or two books of hers that i can say i enjoyed. This one is another disappointment. or maybe i just expect more from her.

Wow this is one of the most chaste love affairs I've read of Deveraux especially set in this century. Impressive, I find the mystery was enthralling and the outcome was satisfying.

I really enjoy Jude Deveraux. I like how she mixes a love story with a decent mystery.

Wow. Very interesting story but it can be very hard to follow. A very involved plot but worth the read!

I was surprised when I reached the end. I thought there were some unanswered questions.

Not one of my favorites by Ms. Deveraux. There was (among other things) way too much that one character (Althea Fairmont) was supposed to have seen and done to be believable. That and Cassie's moronic pursuit of a man she fell in love with at age 12! I've had crushes at 12 that make me laugh or cringe now at 41. We've all had them yet as we aged our taste in the opposite sex evolved, changed. Our tastes mature as we do or at least they should. But not in poor Cassie's case, no, she grows up to become Jeff's (her childhood crush) live-in nanny/housekeeper who, if not for the threat to national security next door, may not have ever gotten a clue that he was quite content that she remain that boring, non-sexual drone indefinitely.

I gave this book 3 stars despite my disappointment because it's still a well-written tale. My overall grade C.
