“A partial skull is found in the sub-cellar of a southern home, and Temperance Brennan is called in to investigate. The way the bones are arranged suggests a satanic cult. Soon a second body is found. Are the cases related? Is there a cult at work here, or is this something else?
There are satanic rituals and political posturing and cop shootings and multiple love interests and revenge killings and cryptic notes to be deciphered and on and on. A thrilling read, but by the end it gets to be a bit much for the pat 'happy ending'. It was a good book, but not my favorite from this series.”
