“A solid, action-packed entry in the Jack Daniels series. Jack is called to a sniper shooting where she and her partner fall under attack and 10 cops are shot in the process. After Jack takes a shot at the sniper and almost hits him, he's angered enough to follow her home to try to take her out. He's not alone though, because Jack's nemesis Alex Cork is lying in wait for Alex to get revenge. Jack, her friends and family are in for one hell of a night.”

3 Snipers simultaneously kill 3 separate sexual predators at exactly 5 pm making Jack’s head spin. Arriving at the final crime scene Jack becomes a potential victim because 1 sniper hasn’t finished yet, and starts picking off cops one at a time.
Jack is about to learn that watching cops die around her doesn’t compare to what lies in wait at home. What will Jack do when faced with more than 1 enemy and trying to protect everyone she loves?
Fuzzy Navel is another inspiring vision into the life of Lieutenant Jack Daniels of the Chicago Police Department. JA Konrath has erected a world for his leading lady to inhabit with the freedom to be everything she should be; wise cracking, tough talking, loyal, sensitive, and true to herself. I always feel at home when I am encompassed by a Jack Daniels story, transported to the places of my childhood, the sights and sounds of Chicago and everything that surrounds her.
Konrath does an exceptional job at making each moment in this book count. It was written in a small time frame and in small quarters, but it was written well and with so much action which made it larger than life. I found myself anticipating what would happen next only to find myself on the last page and well….
Pardon me while I have a moment with the author, Mr. Konrath, was the ending really necessary? Do you have to torture me for a whole year? The minute I closed Fuzzy Navel I logged onto your website to get some answers and all I found was more questions and even more laughs. It takes an author who is also truly a reader to make me laugh when I am still in shock, but kudos to you for allowing me the opportunity to forgive you before I even realized how mad I truly was.
Forgiven though he may be, I am impatiently waiting for Cherry Bomb to release in June 2009.”
“I love the Jack Daniel series. They are funny and full of action heavy on the violence. My co-worker also loves these books and we are always quoting lines. And I love her killer cat.”

It’s a compulsion bordering on obsession. I keep a close eye on release dates and budget accordingly. J.A. Konrath has found his way to the top of this list, which means budget be damned, I need me another hit of Jack Daniels!
This fifth installment in the series presents our heroine in one dilly of a pickle. First, she’s got snipers killing sexual offenders and cops alike with no motive in sight. Next, the deadliest villain (dare I say nemesis?) Jack has ever faced is holding her mother and fiancée hostage. Before the night is over the snipers will find their way to Jack’s house, then Jack, her partner and couple of friends who stopped by to lend a hand find themselves in the middle of a bad guy sandwich, with themselves as the filling!
Maybe I’ve been missing Jack Bauer and need a “24” fix, but I daresay Jack Daniels puts Mr. Bauer to shame in her own 8 hours of non-stop hell on earth. I wonder how fond J.A. Konrath is of this fantastic character he created because he really puts her through the ringer this time! Fortunately, Harry McGlade and her mom’s cranky killer cat make an appearance to provide plenty of hilarity because the reader needs it to break up the relentless tension. Holy cow. I have high blood pressure for Pete’s sake! This series should come with a Surgeon General warning. I love it! I’ve never cringed and laughed so much in one sitting. This is a wonderfully unique series that is guaranteed to tickle your funny bone while you test out your nightlight.
Sorry, folks, but Jack isn’t one for short cuts. Enjoy your introduction to the series from the very beginning with WHISKEY SOUR on the house at www.jakonrath.com. That’s right. You can download the first book for free!
I don’t ever remember reading a book that left me wanting more quite like FUZZY NAVEL. Once you’ve finished, you’ll want to go to Konrath’s website and read the author’s special message to the readers he adores to torture so! I’m already counting the days until CHERRY BOMB in June of 2009.

“I gave this book 5 stars, even though the author is a sadistic man of the first order and did a cliff hanger at the end of this book that is going to drive a lot of readers crazy until his next book comes out so we can find out WHO DIES! This is the 5th book in Mr. Konrath's "Jack" Daniels mysteries. Each book is titled after a drink and inside in the beginning of each book Mr. Konrath is kind enough to give you the recipe for the titled drink. What he doesn't tell you is that you will feel the need to have one of those titled drinks to keep up and/or settle down from reading his books. They are action packed and I find my self out of breath by the end of some chapters and needing a break just to get some steam back to keep up with his fast pace. If you have never read Mr. Konrath I strongly advise you to start with number one and read them in order. The next book always picks up where the last one stopped. The satire and dark humor abound in his books and I love them one and all. Even though I would love to wring his neck for the ending on this one! ”

Those who loved the previous books in the Jack Daniels series won't be disappointed with FUZZY NAVEL. From the first sniper's shot, this book is slam bam in your face.
Jack Daniel's day has been pretty bad, but no one can imagine what's still in store for the detective when she heads home to check on her mom in the burbs. But when she gets there and finds that everyone is all tied up-literally, she isn't quite ready to give up. Not yet, anyway. Jack's past has come back with a vengeance and this time, it's looking like no one is getting out alive. Worse than discovering her home has been invaded, her work has followed her home.
Konrath has a take no prisoners writing style that seeps into every pore, leaving the reader breathless and exhausted. FUZZY NAVEL is an action-packed must read.”
“Such a disappointment. I loved the other installments of the Jack Daniels novels. But Konrath just phoned in this uneven mess of rehashed characters. Time for him to let this character go, or take some time and plan the book and character development. Avoid this one!”

Lieutenant Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels and her partner are covering the case of vigilante snipers who off sex offenders when Jack gets a call regarding the death of one of the most dangerous people she's ever arrested. She's beyond relieved, but that relief is short-lived when she finds out that Alex Kork is in fact alive and well and holding two of Jack's loved ones hostage in the home Jack shares with her mother.
As if that isn't bad enough, the snipers manage to trail Jack to her home and are just as determined to kill the cop and her family as Alex is.
Taking place over eight hours, the writing is past-faced, the plot tight. The characters are as fresh as the first Jack Daniels mystery, the dialogue sharp and funny.
Konrath's blend of fear and humor is a perfect concoction. Highly recommended.
The series in order: Whiskey Sour, Bloody Mary, Rusty Nail, Dirty Martini and now Fuzzy Navel”
