“After rereading some of the earlier books I have to say that Sookie's refusing to see Bill is sad in that he seemed like a really good (dead) guy. I agree with Anita that Harris probably wants Eric and Sookie to hook up, and that is definitely the direction we're going in...However, I've always held the opinion that Sookie and Sam are meant for each other. It'll happen, sooner or later imo.”
“Did anyone besides me go to ComiCon this year? What are y'all's reactions to the upcoming TruBlood?”
“I actually never liked Bill and was glad to see him go. I'm not fond of Eric either though, and would like to see Sookie end up with Sam or Quinn. It has seemed like the last three books in this series weren't as well thought out or "tight" as the the beginning of the series. Unfortunately, I think there is a point in some series where the flame burns out and the authors are no longer writing, but churning books. Don't get me wrong, I liked this book - and I love many of Charlaine's other series. I would enjoy a new book in the Shakespeare (Lily Bard) series, but I kind of wonder if the author is tired of this series.”
“i have to agree with your statement. i find it disappointing that bill isn't as prevalent in the later books. i kind of thought the storyline where bill betrayed sookie and was dating her just because his queen's ordered him to was an afterthought that the author came up with to make her books more interesting and soap opera-esque. it didn't seem to fit with how bill behaved in earlier books. and i've also noticed as the books grow in number they are less and less "mysteries." i'm not sure why we shelve them in the mystery section because they really aren't. this last book there seemed to be three simultaneous plot lines that run similar to an hour-long T.V. drama (the deal with the vampire kingdom takeover, bob, the werewolf storyline). the book read fast and was tolerable, but i found it disappointing, especially since the first three books were so good.anyone else think that the author desperately wants to get sookie together with eric and is trying to figure out some way to do it without making it look forced or ridiculous? sookie's been resisting him for so long it would seem silly for her to just decide one day at the end of the series, "oh, yes, eric, i love you!" and that's the end. i think the author is having trouble that so many series authors in the past have had: the series has gone on too long, she's not sure where to go from here, and she's just throwing storylines out there now to keep it going. i think it's time to retire sookie.”
“I'm curious how many people thought it was weird to put most of the action in the middle of the book and then have like...a third of the book left for Tanya, Sigebert, Bob and Hunter. I, like some--I won't say many, but some--people would like to see Sookie get back together with Bill. Unfortunately, Sookie has little to no interest in him and Charlaine Harris seems to be writing him less and less into the books, which I find disappointing and a little annoying. Any thoughts?”
