I cared about Naomi and Ruth, and as a southern girl myself, I thought the descriptions of their South Carolina family were funny yet accurate.
The book was good, but I would have preferred more action and less rehashing the same feelings over and over. That doesn't mean it should have been done differently to get across the idea of redemption and forgiveness; it just means I am at the beach on vacation and this was not fun beach reading. :)”
“This was a good book. It seemed really slow in places. Also Naomi never seemed to resolve things. She and her daughter-in-law had a great relationship, but she lied to her. She knew her daughter-in-law knew she lied, but she never talked to her about it.....just through actions she assumed things were made right. ”

Wonderfully written. And amazing how well Lott (a male author) presented the viewpoint of an old woman.
Made me want to read more "Lott," so I've begun reading an earlier novel of his.”
“Bret Lott retells the story of Ruth and Noemi from the bible and gives it a modern twist. A very satisfying read. ”
