So who doesn't love a happy ending? I don't consider that to be a flaw in what is at its heart, a romance novel. The fact that the entire series had delighted us with fantasy, action and the supernatural shouldn't change the expectation that this story was always a love story. And I loved it. I think Eclipse is still my favorite, maybe Twilight because it's when I first fell in love with these characters, but I don't have to choose. What I loved about Breaking Dawn was finally being able to hear a maturity in Bella's voice that others alluded to, but we couldn't hear because we were inside Bella's head with all her doubts. I loved the change in her relationship with Edward, when they were finally on equal ground. In a very real sense, Edward was finally allowed to be more Edward, more himself and I loved him more for it. The humor of the previous books continued as well as a few tear jerking moments of emotion, proof that the characters are complex and well-developed. I hope Meyer's revisits Forks in the future with the voice of other characters. I'd like a happy ending for a few more and to see how a few others turn out, especially around the Quilleutes at La Push. I'm not sure I can be as blissfully happy for Jacob until I do.

You are so right about Bella's maturity. I didn't even realize that until I read your review; but yes, this book made Bella more real, full, mature in my mind. Great review.

I agree! I love a happy ending and this was just that. I loved the ending for Bella and Edward and would love to see another story with Jacob and Renesme.

I feel exactly the same way you do. I feel like Bella was a new character in this book, the way she acted was much more mature. The way Stephanie Meyer ended the book (and then we continued blissfully into this small but perfect piece of our forever) seems like there will not be another one, which scares me. i want to keep reading and see what Renesmee will be like when she gets older and see what happens with Edward and Bella. I hope that there is another book or i will be so sad !

I agree about Bella, I was beginning to tire of her voice until I read Breaking Dawn. Amazing what mother hood does to you...

I completely agree about Bella's maturity. I had not realized it until I read your review how immature she sounded in the other books.

I couldn't agree withyou more. It was nice to see her finally become strong and a major factor in the happy ending instead of the reason for the trouble. I really enjoyed the back down in the end instead of the fight... it felt more real that a bully backs down when conronted with a united front rather than attack. hanks for your review.

I agree. There are too many romance books in literature that are depressing and heartwrenching-like Wuthering Heights and Tess of the d'Urbervilles and while they are amazing books, not ones that I like to read over and over unless I want a good cry. I love the ending. I love how Edward and Bella were finally able to be equals also and how she became the stongest character (the Queen) and how she sacrficed to become a mother-it showed a great maturity. It was a great end to the story of Edward and Bella, now we get to wait for the story of Renesme.

  • wow. i didn't even realize the thing about Bella's maturity until i read your review. i agree with you & am glad to see Edward and Bella on equal ground.all the characters seem more complex and mature. i hope Meyer decides to rewrite all for books like Midnight Sun(in Edward's perspective).that would help open Edward's character more and let us see a different side of him. that would be cool. P.S.-in my opinion, Jacob deserves a happy ending as much as Edward and Bella did.

I do agree on the maturity thing. Bella had always been a teensy weensy bit immature. I liked that she and Edward were finally on the same page and they could be more themselves around each other. Great review!

i agree about the maturity but i cant help thinking that it would have been a more dramatic finale if the volturi actually went ahead with the attack and lost to the cullens group, but thats just me. its good that they can be together without a risk factor involved anymore. I liked your review.

I also agree, I love how she matured in the end and how in control she was as newborn Vampire. I also, loved the fact that she did have a gift in the end that helped her family more than any of the other special gifts the others had. It was a really nice ending to the saga her being mature, strong and how wonderful little Renesme came out especially considering how gruesome her pregnancy was. But yes, I would also be interested in seeing Renesme's story develop.

True, I wonder if Meyer will write another edition to the saga featuring a grown up Renesmee, Jacob and the half vamp male from the amazon think it would be an interesting read.

That would actaully be kind of interesting. Renesmee would be torn between one of her 'kind', someone who is not quite human, and yet not quite vampire, someone who could understand her in a way that others can't; and Jacob, who imprinted on her.
