I was raised in new England, but I am the granddaughter of folds who left Maine to go west in a covered wagon and settle in Kansas. I guess he felt i needed to know what my roots were as I embarked on a journey to another world and culture. Still resides on my book shelf.”

The book is a compilaton of stories told by the pioneer women who came to Kansas to homestead in the mid 1800's. these are first hand accounts. If you are from the midwest, you should read it.”
