“I really think LKH has turned the corner here. The last book brought back the "old" Anita for me and this one is even better. Yes, there is still sex but her power is tied to sex and has been for several books now.
A few books ago she was truly out of control, but she has come a long way (baby.) She is still learning to harness her power, and the sex is not something that is just going to stop happening. In fact, it would be bad writing if it did!
Hamilton has placed Anita on this path, and she has to follow through with it. Character development must continue, even if it makes some of us uncomfortable.
Anita is still the "kick-butt" woman that she started out as, but she has grown and is more complicated. There's more to her now than just guns and knives, and a gigantic chip on her shoulder. She's learned (the hard way) that things aren't always black and white, and the monsters are not necesarily what she thought they were.
In this book I got a glimpse of the series I fell in love with years ago. I will eagerly await the next in the series!”
