Jason's story. It's off to NC to confront an estranged dying father.
Why is nothing ever that simple in 'Nitaverse??

I am apparently a glutton for punishment. My expectations keep getting lower and lower the more I read the Anita Blake series and I can’t say that I am shocked when the book meets or in some cases doesn’t meet even those lowered standards. So, why do I keep buying them? Because I love Anita and...

A lot better than I was expecting. I like Jason, and he features prominently in this book. It did also have Richard in it, meh. Sure, its not perfect, sure, everyone annoys the hell out of me at some point, sure, the irritating phrases still appear (although I cant remember "in a hot minute", so yay!) but if you can get past that, its a pretty good book. And Nathaniel is so good in it - he's growing, and now he's growing on me :)

How can you not love an entire book about Jason and Anita, especially with all the romance and action? This was everything the Micah book should have been and then some.

not one of her best, but I love Jason, and this book is filled with him. It's hard not to love it.

The Anita Blake series seems to be getting increasingly slim in ideas or even a plot, but rather an excuse for orgiastic couplings with multiple partners and big on two penny psychoanalysis.

I do not think that Jason could ever take care of Anita on his own. He did save the day in some ways but he could not handle everything that was thrown at him.

I thought this was a good way to include Jason more in Anita's life instead of just sometimes he has more purpose. Seems everyone she is around enough ends upworking their way in somewhere. Anita and Jason learned a lot about eahother and expanded on feelings already there.

Richard was selfish as normal but now we know it would be hard for Anita to resist any one that she has feelings for if they used any magic on her, if she can not learn new ways to deal with them without hurting them. Jason learned a little bit about how to respect women more and I hope it is advice to help him find "the one".

This was one of the shorter books but not as short as Micah.

Hated it. I don't know what LKH is doing, but it's nothing but FAIL. Jason looks like is second cousins? Why doesn't Anita just have sex with them too?! She doesn't but why not. it's just a terrible book.

Also, this book is about 300-350 pgs long. In the middle, Richard shows up for no good reason to bitch about Anita going with Jason to his town. The Pity Party lasts about 100 pgs before Anita kicks him out to screw Jason again.

As of this book, I'm officially done with this series.

Anita Blake's life keeps getting more complicated - now she and Jason find themselves alone in North Carolina as his family and past collide with the present and Anita finds herself attacked by Marmee Noir again.

This series has become more and more about who is sleeping with whom (and how) than about storyline - although I still find myself wanting to see what happens to the characters, as my husband said "it's more porno than plot"! (So beware...)
