It's almost as good as her first book, "Stiff: The Curious Lives of Cadavers", and once again, I was entertained, amused, and instructed. Not every work of non-fiction can lay claim to that! |
“The study of Sexual Physiology, both current and historical could have been a subject treated by some as a boring tome, difficult to read and dry. In the hands of Mary Roach, the material is given a lighter and more humorous touch. Don’t underestimate though, this book is full of information, and the author has gone to great lengths to research the material. She has even gone so far as to participate in one of the research projects.
I guarantee that no matter how long or how many blocks you’ve been around, there will be something to learn about sex for you in this book. It’s full of interesting footnotes, most of them, more of an aside than a traditional notation of references.
I was drawn in by the title, but it really was a quite interesting read.”
“very funny and informative”

Touches topics lightly and is more interested in the societial role rather than the developmental role of science. A very light, but fun read.”

I may be 37 with 3 college degrees but my sex learning ended at 13 in junior high with a science teacher that could not handle girls asking "When is it safest to have sex and NOT get pregnant?" Someone told me that if you are not asking the right questions like that and "How much will I bleed when I lose my virginity and will it hurt?" No one ever gave us straight answers. Now I know.”
