Didn’t Like It“Simply horrible. Boring, too long, annoying characters, and most of all, very tastless humor (or whatever you call *that*).” see full review » see other reviews » |

I'm not Irish, so it's rather interesting to get get a glimpse of reality of this country from a novel, avoinding the stereotypical version of Irish people.”

It wasn't Marian's usual light and airy novel with her humour woven in and out throughout the novel. However, having said that, the characters were well-drawn, and I especially liked Aunt Bid. Actually, I LOVED Aunt Bid!
I would provide a 'warning' for women currently dealing with alcoholism and/or domestic abuse issues because you might find this particular Keyes book just a little too much for you to handle right now.
All in all, I'm very happy I read it but do prefer Marian's more light-hearted-make-me-laugh-out-loud novels.

“It was very hard rating this, seeing as I hated a lot of it and really liked some. Loved Lola after getting used to the quirky narrative, Tranny parties especially. Marnie made me want to poke my eyes out.”

I loved the way the font changed with different aspects of the story and laughed out loud all the time. I really couldn't put it down. It should be 4 1/2 stars really.”

The author does a good job of showing the points of view of the different characters and how life events change them.”
