As much as I believe Patterson attempted to create depth and sympathy for the characters, I do not believe he succeeded. I found these characters to be extremely one-dimensional and I did not find myself to be empathetic to them at all. |

Michael is her confidant, protector, teacher and savior. But when Jane turns 9, the rules of imaginary friends say Michael must leave her. And that she would forget their time together. But Jane never does and neither does Michael...and they meet again. This s a very different love story than Patterson usually writes. The element of the supernatural seems natural! Although it was kind of creepy that an 8-year-old girl and a 3o something guy wee hanging out together! Girls who like fantasy and romance will love this one.”

“ Jane Margaux, up until the age of nine, spent most of her time with her imaginary friend, Michael. She was a lonely, little rich girl, with a domineering, work-obsessed mother. On the day she turned nine, however, Michael told her that he must leave her...it was the rule that imaginary friends leave when the child reaches this birthday. Next, we meet 32-year-old Jane, although Dartmouth educated, still is living beneath mom's protective, driven shell. She works for her mother in the entertainment industry, having just produced a highly successful play based on her time with Michael...a play called Thank Heaven.

Michael is back in New York, having been an imaginary friend to other children throughout their time apart. Then, he spots the grown-up Jane on the street, and emotions, love, and longing flood back into his heart. He realizes he has always loved Jane. What follows is Jane and Michael's re-connection, having their love realized, yet not knowing how it can possibly survive between their two very different worlds.
A light, breezy story to read on a Sunday afternoon with a glass of wine. Nothing earth-shattering, but an enjoyable and fluffly chick-lit offering. The ending is a little surprising, yet predictable at the same time. (less)

“This book is about this girl who loses who imaginary best friend on her ninth birthday. When she gets older, she meets a man who she falls in love with. She realizes this man is her old imaginary friend from years ago. I liked this book because I thought it was cute. I liked the games they played. I thought it was confusing at times; I didn't understand how her imaginary friend could be real. Besides that, I liked the concept of it. I like the difference between her relationship with her mother and her boyfriend. I thought the end was interesting but unrealistic. I would recommend this book to people who like romantic books and fantasy books because the actual situation would never happened”

“light reading, interesting, hard to put down, and I started crying about 50 pages from the end and could barely stop (crying AND reading), even though it was past midnight on a weekday!”

“In the beggining of the book it is interesting, but not a book that you cannot put down..I even read a few other in between it. When i started to read it again it was quick and i finished it with satisfaction. It was a good book, interesting. There was kind of a lot thrown into the end all bunched up. Needless to say i enjoyed it though.”

“I coudn't put it down, I had to find out if Micheal was real or her imaginary friend. I was not happy that Micheal kept leaving Jane, and the way he left her to care for her mother. Odd part of the book. Overall, I enjoyed this two day read.”

I read this book so fast that I was sad when it ended! I can just see the chick-flick movie coming out, maybe starring Patrick Dempsey?? Nice... ”
