Liked It“As good as the first book, the Crimson Rose gives us inside information about the Pink Carnation and how she operates. Always a great story to read and later discuss. And our researcher's life is always one of interest. The story within a story is quite a way to keep the reader on their toes!” see full review » see other reviews » |
“I was not at all able to fully enjoy the character of Mary--it was almost the same thing that happened with Amy in 'The Secret History of the Pink Carnation,' but for the opposite reason. Eloise's side of the story however, as well as the intrigue throughout the book, aid to that effect.”

This book deals with the jilted sister from the Emerald Ring, Mary Alsworthy. Mary has been recruited to help root out the Black Tulip, and in the process may just find true love. The dialogue, character interplay and intriigue are second to none.”

Going into the book I already had a severe dislike for Mary, so it was tough for me at the beginning. As the story progressed, I warmed up to her, and I LOVE Lord Vaughn. This book goes into my favorites only because it's part of the Pink Carnation series.”

I liked the banter that was back and forth between the two main characters, but the book just felt SO SLOW. I only really finished reading it because I love the series, and want to know what happens next! I would definitely recommend the series, but not this particular book.”

I didn't think I would find her to be a likable heroine by the end of the book, but I did! It doesn't compare to the first three in simply enjoyable chick lit, but I did think it was still a good read, and one that I wouldn't mind re-reading later on. ”
