I don't often read from the Desire line. I never did but when I see a good plot, I give them a chance and this story was really excellent. It read like you were watching your favorite soap opera. There was romance, sex, drama and tragedy! All in about 189 pages!

I don't often read from the Desire line. I never did but when I see a good plot, I give them a chance and this story was really excellent. It read like you were watching your favorite soap opera. There was romance, sex, drama and tragedy! All in about 189 pages!

Kimberley Blackstone was a strong heroine that upheld her ideals and Ric Perrini was the perfect hero for her, strong, intelligent and a go getter. Their past marriage made the story all the more exciting. Add to it a plane crash that killed her estranged father and well...it really doesn't get better than this.

This was the first in the Diamonds Down Under series, and I think I'm going to have to go hunting to find the rest. I want to learn more about the Blackstone family and the feud they have with the Hammond branch.

Hero and heroine used to be engaged, until heroine discovered the hero had plotted with her manipulative father to gain his way into the company by marrying her. She went over to "the enemy" and now, he's contacted her because her father was killed in an airplane crash. This is a very emotional story with a hero who never meant to hurt the heroine, but he did and now he has a chance to make up for it--but he had better do a really good job, or he won't win the heroine. Jameson does her usual fantastic job of it.

Kimberley Blackstone has been estranged from her family.... and her husband, of 10 days... for ten years after losing the job she wanted above all others to same husband, Ric Perrini, at her father's diamond empire business. She moved on and took a job with rival Hammond's, also renowned in the business, bitter enemies of the Blackstones after a family dispute split the family right down the middle.

Now Kimberley has returned when her father's plane crashes and rumors of no survivors abound. Upon her return, Ric is reminded his love for Kimberley has never died and he will do whatever it takes to win her back into Blackstone employ... and into his bed.

Kimberley and Ric are such a wonderful pair. Both of them have their reasons for their estrangement and their reasons for now presenting a united front, albeit reluctantly. Ric has never stopped loving Kimberley now he has his chance to make up for lost time. She was crushed over his apparent using of her to advance his career and fears the same thing happening again. Both have felt the strain on their relationship caused by the battle of the Hammonds and Blackstones. When they finally reunite after ten years, Kimberley’s struggle to overcome her doubts and give in to the desire she’s never lost will get to the reader’s heart.

Even though he never appears in this book, Howard Blackstone has quite a presence. His bitterness over Kimberley joining forces with the Hammonds and his hatred for the other branch of the family looms on every single page. Not a single character in Vows & a Vengeful Groom has escaped the effects of Howard’s obsession. It takes a very good writer to be able to portray such emotion from and about an absentee character. Bronwyn does an impressive job of showing her readers the true depth of what Howard has done over the years.

I've never read Bronwyn Jameson before and this is the first in the Diamonds Down Under miniseries, so what book could be better for trying out a new author? I can easily say I thoroughly enjoyed Vows & a Vengeful Groom. I love Bronwyn’s style of writing and her voice that comes through strong and clear. I also love the concept of this series and can’t wait to see what is in store in the future for the Blackstones and Hammonds. And what did happen to that necklace the Blackstone Rose? I have my suspicions and can’t wait to see if I am right or wrong, or some combination of the two.

Last night -- and today during my lunch break -- and tonight in one 'ignore everything else' sitting, I read Bronwyn Jameson's 'Vows and a Vengeful Groom'. This book leads off the series 'Diamonds Down Under' written by a number of Australia and New Zealand Silhouette Desire line authors.

Reunion stories aren't usually my first reading choice, I can't really explain why, but Kimberley and Ric's story captivated me. They had a lot of history, yet so much they needed to learn about each other. He was tough, sometimes arrogant, but with a core of goodness that convinced me from the first page he wanted Kim in his life to stay. She was angsty about her family relationships, carrying some scars Ric didn't even know about. I identified with Kim. A lot. I think most people who've enjoyed/endured the ups and downs of family relationships would feel the same way. I loved the glitter and glamour of the setting, the descriptions of the jewellery and some of the fabulous dresses Kim wore - which cut Ric's knees right out from under him - of course!

Most of all I loved the character growth from page one to the happy ever after, for a man and a woman who really were meant to be together. Kudos to Bronwyn Jameson for kicking off this big, glittering series with a great opening book.
