“Another story about Odd Thomas the small town chef who sees spirits!”

This book wasn't what I expected at all, but it did end up suprising me in a good way. Koontz has a way of keeping everything that happens exclusive to one character in one specific location (i.e. Chris Snow at Fort Wyvern, Fear Nothing) and this book goes with that sort of all-the-eggs-in-one-basket sort of arrangement. So if you're looking for non-stop, heart-pounding, action then this isn't quite the Koontz selection you want. Forever Odd,a continuation of the Odd Thomas series, is more of a mystery, how-is-he-gonna-get-out-of-this kind of book. Having said all that, I really do enjoy this persona Koontz has created. I find Odd relatable and fun as well as heart-wrenchingly human. As such this book is a compelling, if not fun, read.”

The scene at the end was not explained (how did he escape from the sluice to return to the place of his employment.”

He's quite sure it is only temporary though. He still keeps the fortune that tells him "You are destined to be together forever." He's still in malaise though and hasn't returned to his job as fry cook (the best fry cook) at the Pico Mundo Grille.
He's contacted by Dr. Jessup, his friend Danny is in very big trouble. Odd follows his instincts and finds Danny with some very strange characters. From there, he has to find his way out and is hampered by his psychic magnetism which works two ways.
Very well written, as was the first in the series on Odd Thomas. I shall read more.”
