It is out of print and was not easy to find. They had two copies in the LA County Library system. It was written in 1930 and with that is mind, it was a very progressive book. It is about a woman name Jane. She was a girl when the book started and a grandmother by the end. It dealt with love, life and family. I really enjoyed it.”

While reading it I was tempted to think Jane Austen had been reincarnated in the form of Margaret Ayer Barnes. Though it did seem to me that women were Barnes' target audience, this is a book that men should read, too. The whole point of the lengthy, involved story seemed to be, "Hey, can't we behave outselves with a little dignity here?" Being as though "Years of Grace" was a 1931 Pulitzer winner, the "Grace" obviously refered to the standards of the early decades of the twentieth century. Some of that brand of grace needed to become obsolete because it was little more than social snobbery. Yet, our current society could be greatly benfited by the return of some of those outdated graces....which is why I think that Americans of both genders should read this book. ”
