There is a magical edge to this translation - the fall of Arabic names, multiplied by generations of those gone before, will either rivet or annoy you - for my part at first I found it difficult to follow the text in a way, but I recalled other similar styles and then I found myself wading through this first volume with real delight. Each unfolding page produced a revelatory insight into the life of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Ibn Kathir has a way of reducing the most heavy material to the simplest format, and though there is an element of repetition to this, I can honestly say I found the style, content and packaging extremely reliable. Expensive though.
