“I LOVED This book. I read an excerpt on the author's web page and was impressed. Actually I was caught up and desperately needed to finish the story. The author let me know it was available on Net Galley and I immediately requested it. I read the book every moment I had free. Okay I stayed up until I finished it, (I am writing this at 4:20 AM). This is a light romance between a single mom of a three and a famous Hollywood actor. She has issues that deal with her husband abandoning her and the children which translates to lonely but not looking for love and one night stands are not happening. He has an ex-wife who convinced him to let her have sole custody of his daughter, a decision he regretted immediately but she forced him to keep. Our couple meet accidentally while he is in her town waiting to meet the daughter he never had a chance to know. His ex is in total control of that meeting - or so she thinks. This isn't your typical let's rush into everything romance. The single mother issue is taken seriously. It was interesting to read the actor's side of things too. I did wonder if the author had personal knowledge of how a celebrity's life can be or if she just thought it up. Either way I thought she did a great job. There are two points of view, some steam towards the end, (though not really graphic - it was tasteful steam), fun family scenes and enough tension that I was pulled to keep reading. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for letting me read and review this book.”Frances Cristina Gutierrez wrote this review Tuesday, October 1, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? “Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:
*eARC received from the Author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
Let me start out by saying that I don't read contemporary romances, but knowing I enjoyed Linda's writing style, I decided to give Gwynneth Ever After a shot and not hand it off to one of my guest reviewers like I would normally do. I am so happy that I did. The book was fantastic! I couldn't put it down, the characters became instant favorites, and the story was simply beautiful.
Gwynneth Jacobs was working hard to put her life back in order after her husband walked out on her and their 3 children. After a simple night out throws her in the path of her dream man, her ordinary life becomes anything but ordinary... To Gwynn's astonishment, Gareth pursues her and almost instantly creates this fairy tale life for not only her, but her kids as well. The problem: it all seems too good to be true, and Gwynn being the very practical woman she is and knowing her family comes first, Gareth has a fight on his hands to convince her to take a chance on him.
Gwynn is like any hard working single mother, and it was very easy to relate to her throughout all of the ups and downs of the tale. Gareth is impossible not to fall in love with; he has it all and then some! Gwynneth Ever After was a super sweet contemporary romance that was able to win over a reader who said she just couldn't read Contemp, and left me with nothing but a smile.”
“Gwyn Jacobs had an ideal life until her husband walks out on her, leaving her with 3 small children shattered dreams and unwilling to trust. Fate brings her into contact with a man most women would kill to date and for some reason he wants Gwyn, baggage and all. Can he convince her to take a chance on him? Can she risk her happiness or more importantly, her kids happiness on a man that she doubts?
Gwyn is a strong woman, I have 3 kids myself and to imagine myself in her shoes... well, it doesn't bear thinking about. I couldn't help but feel for Gwyn, the kids were cute and I can honestly see why she would be attracted to Gareth despite his occupation. He is a very likeable guy and I was falling for him myself. This was a sweet contemporary romance and it's perfect for when you want to curl up on the couch with a good book, it left me with a smile on my face
