Didn’t Like It1 of 1 members found this review helpful“This book received several really glowing reviews, and the author seemed delightful on NPR, but I was bored to tears by this book. Ms. Galchen crafts some very funny turns of phrase, and her plot is inherently intriguing, her prose and pacing, however, left me yawning. Hopefully, her next novel...” see full review » see other reviews » |

Just quirky enough, with enough weird science, intriguing characters and a strong narrative voice to draw me in and keep me reading with great pleasure. Reminded me a bit of a demented Alan Lightman.”

I didn't enjoy the book at all. The story went nowhere, and there was no meteorology, just a meteorologist. I was really disappointed after I thought I found a quirky book some of my nerdy friends might like.”

I found it from a list of top ten first novels of 2008. It definitely is something different, but I'm not sure if I really got it. If its intention was to make you think about things that had never crossed your mind before, it definitely accomplished that goal. The question is are these things you really care to be thinking about. ”
