this book was only mildly enjoyable for me. the story felt a bit pointless, actually and the characters are hard to sympathize with despite having supposedly sad stories.

I liked this book a lot because it was a realistic book that went behind the scenes of LasVagas. This book was about a man named Chase who worked as a teacher in Las Vagas. Chase decided to leave Las Vagas until he ran into his old friend, Michele who convinced him not to leave. By remaining in Las Vagas Chase gets sucked into the prostitution business, which Michele was involved in. Chase leaves his normal life behind when he falls in love with a prostitute, and learns the harsh life of those involved in this business. I liked this book because it showed the reader what many people go through when they feel they have no other way out. It allows us to get a different point of view on the life some people live with in Vagas.

The book can be slow at times as well as pretty predictable, but isn't life? Don't mean to ruin anything for future readers but this isn't a story with a happy ending. Although I did learn a lot about prostitution in the Las Vegas area.

It was just OK. It would have been better if there was really anything redeeming or likable about the main character.

I really enjoyed this book. I found it very interesting and a fun read. This is your peek into what really happens in Las Vegas and its not only dramatic but includes prostitution, love, and a whole lot of problems. Chase's friend Michelle is a prostitute in Vegas for their friend Bailey but Chase wants to escape it all. His sister died and he couldn't get past that. He was a school teacher and a painter and planned, when he made some more money, to move away with his soon to be wife, Julia. Julia is successful and plans to live in New York while Chase is a just out of college teacher and painter hoping to make his mark. Yet, when he loses his job he starts driving Bailey's girls to their "jobs". At this point, things get dramatic and you will just have to read it for yourself. This is a great portrayal of what really goes on behind the closed doors of Las Vegas and tells the story of a few people who grew up there most of their lives and the effect that great electrifying city had on them. I highly recommend this book it is original, attention grabbing, and impossible to put down.

Over the summer I was looking for a light read to take on my travels. I was immediately intrigued by the cover and title of this book, and was prompted to read it. "The Delivery Man" tells the story a high school teacher named Chase living in Las Vegas who is anything but satisfied with his life. He regrets dropping out of NYU, and transferring to UNLV, and is trying to cope with the death of his sister who was plagued by her addiction to drugs, and sex. The author captures the raw and real realities of those living behind the Las Vegas glitz and glamor. Chase finds solace in his ex-girlfriend Michelle who works as a call girl. After losing his teaching job, he is offered to work with her, and begins delivering the girls that men call for sexual favors. Chase must constantly deal with the temptations and perks of working in the industry, and with the fact that he cannot be with the woman he truly loves; Michelle. Ultimately the business and Las Vegas become too much for him to handle, and after a major accident, he decides to move. The book was written in an extremely descriptive and captivating manner. The author used vivid imagery to capture the spirits of those individuals just looking to get by in Las Vegas.

A gripping portrayal of life in Las Vegas for the young and beautiful, and then when they are used up and spit out. Graphic and disturbing, but I think it paints a true picture.

Although this book is marketed as a look into the seedy underbelly of prostitution among the young girls native to Las Vegas, it's more appreciable as a morality play that follows a character trying to stay out of the business, but who is eneviatably sucked in. Chase thinks he stands outside and above those wrapped up in the shady business, but by standing by a morally flawed friend, he himself becomes twisted and wrecked in more ways than one. Good book for the non-squeamish. Similar to Chuck Palahniuk.
