The language and turn of phrase in this book is a wonderful thing to experience. It is heavy on the "literary" side, which I was so excited about the NeXt premise in the first place, that they were supposed to focus on all the aspects of women's lives not just their love life (too bad they're abandoning this premise and making NeXt more romance-y. Not that I don't love romance, I just like plain old women's fiction, too.) The subject matter in this book is hard to read at times, and reading it can be hard work, which made me a bit restless. At the same time, it kept me intrigued and invested enough to make me want to finish the book and see how things turned out for the characters. In the end, I was a satisfied reader.
