i picked this book up in summer 2008 and now backing reading in earnest. The narrative begins with an expirate actress. She returns to Atlanta where we find her daughter has been involved with an army deserter who was murdered. This has affected her deeply, she even removed herself from Spellman. The narrator has family business to get done. i'm continuing.

As with all Pearl Cleage books, I feel as though I gain a little more maturity and black pride through her characters' growth. Seen It All and Done the Rest is a wonderful commentary on aging divadom, black community decay, black citizenship, black-on-black crime, ruthless developers, and black love. Ms. Cleage has even interwoven a storyline regarding the after effects of Hurricane Katrina and where is one's home with that of the main character and her realization of what and where is home. Wonderfully written and rich with life lessons. I enjoyed it immensely and will probably reread all of her books.
