Great ideas that will impact the way I create my slides for presentations. I just wish the book could provide a formula that I could follow to make great presentations :) Lots of follow-up books to read now.

Great book to help with design of PowerPoint slides or just about anything - the power is in the message and use of visuals. This is a book that I will revisit often!

This is an excellent book. I've read Garr's blog for a year now and finally got around to reading his book.

The information in the book is outstanding - much like his blog. The only knock I have is that he uses the metaphor of Zen and other Japanese cultural things in order to relate his points to a bigger story. It feels awkward in many places. I understand what he was trying to do, but I think it just missed the mark too often. Perhaps I'm too jingoistic.

Either way, Garr really shines when he distills information into its most concise representation. I think he is a great wordsmith. The book reads in a very conversational style.

You'd think that this was a book only about presentations and creating slides, but I found it achieved a much higher purpose than that - inspiration. Instead of solely focusing on technique and the technical skills of presenting, Garr frames everything inside the picture of you being excellent at what you do and say so that others can benefit from your life. That was the biggest (welcome) surprise I came away with from this book.

His end-of-chapter "In Sum" sections are very excellent distillations of the chapter's contents.

    Absolutely, read this book!!

Presentation Zen focuses on design simplicity for conveying a message. This is very much in the vein of Tufte and presenting information. The introduction is a great example, completely done with a set of 'slides'.

I love the writing & the visual style that Garr brings to this book. He points you in the right direction & gives you the theory coupled with the practicality of the situation.

I read this on an airplane - fast read, lots of good information about more than just powerpoint presentation skills. If you're okay with Japanese metaphors, this is a easy way to pick up some important skills. Valerie Horton I too read this book , and I will never EVER look at PowerPoint presentations without thinking about this book. If you need to create a presentation and want to keep your audience awake and listening to YOU instead of reading your PowerPoint, then this is the book for you! ~ Judy Van Acker I find it interesting - I think everyone on the CLiC staff has read it by now. It's gone viral. I hope everyone who works in a library and who might someday give a presentation also read this book! Valerie

This is an amazing book. We live in a era where ideas are the currency, so, explaining and helping to grow ideas starts with an outstanding communication, and this books helps a lot.
Not only it mixes elements of the most important books in communication and ideas that have been published lately, but its insights are even superior than its roots helping you to look different to an everyday tool as it is Powerpoint.
Absolutely recommended to anyone who needs to communicate ideas using slides.
