I loved it. Turned over the back cover yesterday and I miss it already. A true sign of a great read.

I think it's an interesting read, but it on the "dramatic" side (too much, "but the worst is yet to come" and other cliche that you don't think you'd find in a non-fiction work). I sense a bias on the author's part, too.

For anyone who did not live through the 60s and 70s and wants to know what all the fuss was about. Or, for anyone who wants to find out the real "trash" on these guys. Reads like a novel, but provides a fairly balanced portrait.

This book filled me in on so much. I've loved the Beatles since I was a boy riding to school with my mom and listening to these albums, but this book goes into so much detail about their history and development that I feel like I was almost there, mixed with the Twickenham Sessions and Thirty Days bootlegs. I can listen to what Spitz talks about happening on tape, and it makes for a very interesting read.

All I can say is that I LOVED IT!!! It was a very in-depth book about almost everything you'd need to know about The Beatles.

An in-depth history packed with details and little-known facts about the greatest band in history. Spitz presents readers with an intimate portrait of the Fab Four and the people who knew and worked with them, from the very beginning (John Lennon's birth in 1940) to the break-up in 1970. A must for any fan of the band, and garenteed to make you a fan if you're not.

Even though I thought I knew all there was to know about the Beatles, this book read like a mystery and made me late to work for the 2 weeks that I was engrossed in it.
