This is the true life story of how the Amish forgave the attacker of the school children in Nickel Mines, Pa.
It tells how their forgiveness help heal the town.

Very beautiful and prominent story.

This was a very enlightening book. Not only did I learn a lot about forgiveness, but I also learned a lot about the Amish and their beliefs.

Very sad, but interesting on how they live forgiveness & struggle with it. Don't know how I would handle if it were my child.

This the story of how the Amish were able to forgive after the Nickle Mines shooting. The author explores Amish beliefs and culture to explain how they as a community are able to forgive when a wrong has been committed. It is truely remarkable and one that more of us English (non Amish) should take time to understand.

This is the story of the Amish children who were shot at their school in Nickel Mines in October of 2006, and how the Amish community responded to this tragedy. It is a highly inspiring and challenging story, and one that needs to be read in order to understand where the forgiveness and grace of the Amish comes from.

It isn't told in story-form, and perhaps some of the questions the reader might otherwise ask, are addressed.

I know the authors of this book so I know that what is written here is how it really is. How utterly amazing this story of forgiveness in the face of such unspeakable evil. May these families know true peace.

An excellent overview of who the Amish really are, when it comes to living out their faith. Forgiveness is central to who they are and what the believe. The book distinguishes between forgiveness, pardon, reconciliation, justice or punishment (which the Amish relinquish to the State) and speaks of remembering and forgetting. Very well written by the three scholars of Amish culture nd the "English" response to them.

A serious look into what allowed an Amish community to heal and quickly forgive a school shooter. Examines how elements fundamental to Amish life, and quite different from other modern life, allow them to have grace and forgiveness that would elude most of us. Compelling.
