This book did not pull me in as quickly as the first one. I liked the fact that this book tied up the loose ends left at the end of Beautiful Lies. By the middle of the book I was getting very anxious to know how everything would end up.”

It definitely helped to have read that first book but it would have worked as a stand alone book, too. Again, another quick read with a couple of surprises. All in all, enjoyable.”

It was great reading about Ridley again but I was still left with unanswered questions. May a third book be on the way? I really liked Jake and to find out he lied about everything just seem really too much. Going that far seem just ridiculous. I Didn't understand the men kidnapping her to take her to London. I didn't get the point. There are more but I rather not ruin it for everyone. Anyway I was not happy with the 2nd book. And if there is no third one then oh well.”

The writer spent the first third of this book suggesting and not too subtly that the reader should read her first book. Really annoying and what I remember most about this book. ”

Many questions were left unanswered at the end of Beautiful Lies, and here Unger tries to answer them, with some heart-pounding suspense, twists turns and all out action. It’s hard to review a sequel without ruining the first book for those who haven’t read it, but I’ll give it a go.
Ridley Pearson’s Uncle Max died a few years ago and Ridley has recently found out some life altering news about Max and his life. But if Max is dead then why is the FBI following Ridley and asking her questions about him? Why does Ridley’s friend Jake believe Max is alive? And why does everyone Ridley contacts while investigating Max’s death end up dead? Unger produces a very dark and intricately plotted story that delves more deeply into Ridley’s character as well as those people who are a part of her life. You care for Ridley and walk with her every step of the way, hoping she will find the answers she so desperately seeks. Good sequel and I am definitely going to read Black Out, Unger’s newest book.”
“This book continues the story of Lisa Unger's previous novel, Beautiful Lies. I suggest that you read that prior to reading this one. I thought that the first novel made a pretty good story on its own. I didn't realize that that story wasn't complete until I read this one. Put together, they are a terrific tale that was well told.”
