This book was a little strange but it was still enjoyable to read. I have not read any other Marquez novels even though I own many of them. This was my first one. Appropriately enough. *wink*

Edge of Dying-not of old age, but, at long last, of uncorrupted love

Love his writing--should probably give it 5 stars but I'm very stingy with those. Fast read.

The first line kind of shocked me, but the style really blows you.

It was ok. It's a story that this generation likely won't find to be very good. Have to be a die hard romantic to see the beauty in this. Unfortunately, most folks love their own opinion and can not put it aside to evaluate this book on its own merits.

It's Lolita without the creepiness. Marquez wraps a love story with the story of a man's life, told through vignettes of his relationships. The book is a particularly fast read and a great introduction to Marquez. If you like it, there's even more to enjoy in One Hundred Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera.

My first book by Gabo' and after finishing reading it, I know that it has a classic style of narrative. Probably not his best book but the story is substantial and humble, and sometimes it has some funny moments centered on the rediscovery of an old man with Eros and Amor. "That's not for coming in, Señor, but for coming out..." Yes, Love/Lust, is crazy...
