By: Robert Muchamore
The Sleep Walker is part of the CHERUB series. The CHERUB series features James Adams as the main character, James is a orphan and a heavily built teenager like all other CHERUB agents. His current girl friend is Dana Smith. He is a “Black Shirt”, black is the highest you can achieve for outstanding work on a mission.
When an airliner crashes a boy calls the police hotline blaming his own father for the crash. Lauren, James’s little sister, Lauren is sent in to find the truth. Lauren soon becomes friends with the boy who called the hotline, (Fahim) and plants listening devices. Fahim’s father Hassam soon finds out and are on the run. In the end Hassam is shot by a police officer because Hassam was threatening to bring Fahim down with him.
I think that sending child agents is very interesting and can lead to great suspense. I have read many of the CHERUB series and what I know is, the CHERUB always befriends the suspected criminal’s children. Many times the criminal is killed and the kids are left alone sad and alone. Which is kind of unfair seeing that its always the parents that had done wrong and the child is left alone with most likely no parents and are sent to a foster home. I think lots of action movies have agents trying to bring down the crook but CHERUB uses child agents which makes it a lot more interesting because its fun to read about super hard training exercises and campus gossip.”
“This series is great”

CHERUB is a realistic fiction series, because although it is far fetched it could still easily happen in real life. I enjoy these books because there are basically two parts: life on CHERUB campus, and the missions the CHERUBS go on.
In particular, I didn't enjoy this book as much. In this book James gets in some trouble back on campus, and doesn't go on missions for a while. In most books, I enjoy the main characters point of view, in CHERUB the main characters are the two Adams kids, James and Lauren. I personally think the decisions James makes, and the way he acts is not admirable, but I think he is a funny character, and he makes the story interesting. On the other hand, I admire Lauren, and the way she acts on missions. She is a really smart, funny and a helpful person on a mission. While James is in trouble, Lauren goes on a partner mission with her best friends little brother, who she despises. I thought this book was kind of an "in between book" not something particularly interesting but it was a book I had to read to get the General, a very interesting book that I am enjoying.
I recommend this series to people in grades 6-8, they will enjoy it most. ”
“I have read all of Robert Muchamore's books, some more than once, and love them all. This one wasn't as action packed as the last. It was a little more emotional and personal.”

It just didn't live up to the standards. After all, there are some books where I wonder what it would be like if everything that happened in a book was 'fake' in a way, and if all the events preceding the climax meant nothing. This book was just like that. I'm not going to ruin it for readers, but the ending was completely unexpected, and a horrible one. If you actually liked how it ended, and you like those endings, try reading 'Fake Boyfriend' another book who's ending, simply put, sucked.
Now, at the moment, you may be wondering 'If she's just gonna say how horrible the book is, why did she give it four out of five stars?' I gave it four out of five stars, because the REST of the book was good. It left me wondering what was going to happen next, even if what was about the happen in the end was something I could have never dreamed of. The book was so, well, not powerful, but, influential, for lack of a better word, that, as I read it just before I boarded a plane, the first few minutes were actually somewhat scary... Of course, I always get extremely involved in the books I read...
I'd recommend this book to anyone who has a love for the CHERUB series, or other action and thriller lovers.
Bravo, Robert Muchamore, you've done it again!”
