The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

by Douglas Adams

"DOUGLAS ADAMS IS A TERRIFIC SATIRIST."
--The Washington Post Book World
Facing annihilation at the hands of the warlike Vogons is a curious time to have a craving for tea. It could only happen to the cosmically displaced Arthur Dent and his curious comrades in arms as they hurtle across space powered by pure improbability--and desperately in search of a place to eat.

Overview: Groups

Science Fiction 848 books / 3030 members / 1760 posts Sci-fi group for those who grok - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grok

Recommend some stuff, let people know about new authors, help people find some good books to read.

I want to try to help people (including myself) find some lesser known, obscure, new, or under appreciated authors. I have nothing against Heinlein, Dick, Asimov, Gibson, etc... but let's take Grandmasters and Best-Sellers as a given. You could fill 20 pages full of the big names and that wouldn't point the way to new books. Let's do what SciFi is meant to do and explore some new frontiers... oh man, that makes me sound like I should own a closet full one piece jumpsuits.
Graphic Novels/Comics 468 books / 574 members / 580 posts I thought this group would be a good place to expose each other to great graphic novels that are out there. We can add them to the group shelf and put a comment in the 'discuss' area about why you thought it was good. I'll start by putting a bunch of graphic novels that I thought were really good, and should be read.
What are you reading? 2328 books / 5581 members / 12969 posts A place to talk about books you have read/reading of any genre, or any book talk in general.
Science for laymen 102 books / 80 members / 32 posts This group is devoted to discussions on science books (nonfiction) that are intended for the general readers (laymen) and not the specialists. Authors who have written books under this genre include George Gamow, Steven Strogatz, Steven Levy, James Gleick, John Gribbin, Robert Jungk, Jean-Pierre Luminet, Hugh Aldersey-Williams, Isaac Asimov (yes, he has lots of nonfiction), Abraham Pais, Ronald Clark, Arthur Clarke (yup, he too has lots of nonfiction), Ed Regis, and David Kahn (mostly about cryptography) among others. We may want to call these writers "science chronologists".
What is the name of that Book??? 146 books / 328 members / 880 posts It can be frustrating to try to recall a book when you no longer remember the author or the title, only snippets of detail. Here is a place to tell what you do remember and maybe someone else can identify the book for you.
"Hey! What's so funny!?!" 166 books / 504 members / 340 posts I need more funny in my life, Hey, who doesn't?

So lets talk about the funny, witty, hilarious stuff we've read. Any kind of funny -puns, wordplay, dry wit, Calvin & Hobbes, sci-fi, fantasy, politics, YA -- if it tickles your funny bone, let me know about it, because I'm sure to end up reading it!

Iran 130 books / 819 members / 138 posts Persian Earth!
Fantasy and Sci-fi Fanatics 1028 books / 1181 members / 1218 posts I am personally addicted to fantasy and sci-fi and I created this group for people to discuss Fantasy and Sci-fi books that they have read.

I have found myself, more often than not, searching for a really good fantasy or sci-fi book, but to no avail. Starting a group not only enables me, and you, to find great books, but it also is a great way to discuss likes and dislikes about these books.

Just a warning, I will also put realistic-fiction books on the group shelf if I feel that they are as good as a fantasy or sci-fi book. MEOW!!!!!

***NOTICE***
If you are a member, or just a random person, please put any sci-fi or fantasy book that you *LOVE* on the group shelf, please!

Another thing, plez post discussions or reply to one, i'd love to hear your opinions.
