In this hilarious space adventure, Arthur dent fins himself searching for answers to life, the universe, and everything. I liked this book and the ones following it because it let me get away from the problems in my life and escape to the strange and completely different world of Arthur Dent.

Not nearly as good as the other two books, but I can't help writing here one of Marvin's GREAT speechs, with which I relate to "This is what I said. I said, `I would like to say that it is a very great pleasure, honour and privilege for me to open this bridge, but I can't because my lying circuits are all out of commission. I hate and despise you all. I now declare this hapless cyberstructure open to the unthinkable abuse of all who wantonly cross her.' And I plugged ...

Adams is one of my favorite authors of all time, and these books don't disappoint. I just read through the series for the 4th, maybe 5th time, and it's always fantastic. His humor, his clever word play, and his story lines all impress.

Have you been bombarded by complete strangers who wanted to know, after you have
written a review, and/or made comments expressing your opinion of a book,
whether they should read this book? And it isn't that they took the time to see
who you are, then ask in a note, no, they just spammed you and everyone else on
Shelfari who has said book on shelf. Does this irriate you? If so, you can do
something about it: you can contact either of the two Shelfari reps below, or
better yet, you can contact both of them and ask them to please remove the new
and annoying feature that allows this spamming!

And don't forget the video game!

I found the trilogy (in five parts) completely delightful, but took even more enjoyment from Adams' DIRK GENTLY books and LAST CHANCE TO SEE. An enormously whimsical and quotable body of work.

The majority of Adams' career was focused on television and radio, though he also had a huge interest in the environment. His early death at the age of 49 was a sad loss.
