Shelfari Group Admins 648 books / 4933 members / 3274 posts Welcome all Shelfari group admins! It's about time we created a group just for group admins. This is the place to:

*Offer tips on what does or doesn't work for groups.
*Ask questions about how groups work and what options you have as admins.
*Let us (the Shelfari Team) know what features would be helpful in your groups.
*This group is not a place to advertise your group (or book) to get members--and I will delete discussion threads that are irrelevant.

Graphic Novels/Comics 468 books / 576 members / 589 posts I thought this group would be a good place to expose each other to great graphic novels that are out there. We can add them to the group shelf and put a comment in the 'discuss' area about why you thought it was good. I'll start by putting a bunch of graphic novels that I thought were really good, and should be read.
What are you reading? 2328 books / 5601 members / 13059 posts This group is for anyone, of any background or age group, who is interested in talking about...Books.

Books you want to read, have read, are reading, books you have heard of and not yet read.
Books of any genre.
You are welcome to ask for recommendations or opinions.

What is the name of that Book??? 146 books / 328 members / 880 posts It can be frustrating to try to recall a book when you no longer remember the author or the title, only snippets of detail. Here is a place to tell what you do remember and maybe someone else can identify the book for you.
Humor rules! 25 books / 49 members / 39 posts I am always asking people the books that they have read that make them howl with laughter. I strongly feel that if we all laughed a little more the world would be a better place. Let's all let each other know what our favorite funny books are here. I am going to post a few to get us going. (Okay, so it is just me right now - but what the heck!)
50 Book Challenge! 2942 books / 2911 members / 16621 posts When asked about the new Amazon Kindle product, Steve Jobs CEO of Apple computer had this to say:

“It doesn’t matter how good or bad the product is, the fact is that people don’t read anymore,” he said. “Forty percent of the people in the U.S. read one book or less last year. The whole conception is flawed at the top because people don’t read anymore.”

Welcome to the the 50 Book Challenge, where we fly in the face of Steve Jobs.

Basically .... the challenge is to read 50 books in one year. OR ... establish a goal for yourself more or less, it's up to you, just because we say 50 books doesn't mean that has to be your goal too.

Start a thread, WITH YOUR NAME IN THE SUBJECT OF YOUR ORIGINAL POST, and log your books. It is a very good idea to bookmark (when in your post, add it to your internet browser's favorites) your post for easy location for future updates. Things move quickly around here.

If you haven't been keeping track of the books you've read, start when you join.

Thanks for being here and have fun. If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to contact me.

Let the aliens beckon 160 books / 46 members / 15 posts Fear

It looms over my days,
It haunts my nights,
The further I try to go,
It is again before my eyes.

The sweat trickling down,
My heart beating fast,
It always makes me feel,
This breath is my last.

Like an eight-legged octopus,
It entraps and engulfs me,
The more I shrink back,
Clearly the shadow I see.

My senses seem to give away,
When it comes very near,
And then I realize that
The ghostly figure is fear.
.

... Few words to describe my take on how we as human beings feel against the vast cosmic and extraterrestial forces that are so beyond our reach and comprehension... The books in this section are an attempt to unviel the truth that lies beyond ... and curb are fear of the unknown..with a spirit of scientific enquiry..
Book Loving Friends (BLF) 63 books / 139 members / 71 posts I honestly think that people need help all the time - meaning- tying a shoe, grabbing someone before they get hit by a car, a rose to a very sad lookin woman. It sounds silly, but if we could get something like this started between us - first by sending cards with notes or whatever, then by Christmas we send cards a note and a gift. This does not have to be a huge investiment $10 is a lot! But that once a month would work well. So, que up
