When I first picked this book up, I was expecting another outlandish, hilarious novel. Instead, this book is a collection of pieces done by Adams as well as the beginnings of what would have been The Salmon of Doubt novel. In typical Adams' humor, the essays cover a range of topics from laptops...

Adams was too far ahead of his time. This collection of some of his writings proves it.

If nothing else, the story about the biscuits is essential to being.

A great read and a tribute to the accomplishments of this author, traveler and barn builder.

This book is not worth reading for the story (although if you feel like cursing God for killing off Adams before he finished it, you're welcome to join me). The beginnings of what would be the sixth Hitchhiker/third Dirk Gently book are tantalizing, but the best part of this book can be found in the essays by Adams on all sorts of topics. In many ways, this is Adams at his best, lovingly riffing on just about everything. It's a reminder of why we're going to miss him so much.

If you like him, (and who doesn't ?) you must read this aswell, although I gave mine away to a friend after i'd read it and I usually don't do that with books generally, not shure how that reflects on the qualllity of this though.

A fun book in memory of a fun guy, The Salmon of Doubt collected essays, letters, introductions, short stories, and six unpolished chapters to what would have been his next book. If you enjoyed the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Meaning of Liff, *AND* Last Chance To See, then you'll probably enjoy this book (Last Chance to See is the keystone, though.)

Was a big fan of Douglas Adams' writing after reading 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy', and this book made me respect and admire him as a person as well. It offers a great insight into the way he thought and perceived the world around him.
