Didn’t Like It“A disappointing end to a great series. Kind of blah ending. Like, what was the big deal again? You have to go all the way back to the beginning and remind yourself. Then you're like, "Ooooohhh. Then why... Oh, nevermind."” see full review » see other reviews » |
“I was disappointed with this, the last in the series. I wish that Card had given a more satisfactory finish to Alvin and his golden plow. Really, that plow should have been more important. Why did Card make it a plow, anyway? Bad analogy.”

Alvin is one such, and this series chronicles his battle against the forces of the Unmaker. Overall, this is a great and exciting series, though it seems to be weakening slightly in later books.”

However, i am not someone who is keen of book series. I decided to read the end because in the first book we learned about Alvin Maker's extreme magical powers and his great vision for the newly settled land of America and i just wanted to see how it turned out for Alvin in the end. This book is about him and his wife creating the city he has envisioned. I really latched on to this idea because i do not believe that America today is the country or place it has the potential to be. I loved the idea of an alternate reality where native american traditions and magic were appreciated and spread through the community of settlers of America.

“It felt so unresolved at the end of the story. What I would love to see is the city about 100 years later when Alvin's great great grandkid was in charge. That would be fun.”
