Cast of Characters/Important People

  • Miriam (named Mary by the Romans): Young Jewish woman growing up in Nazareth, the daughter of a carpenter
  • Joachim: Miriam's father. Anger caused him to be sentenced to crucifiction, but Miriam arranged to have him rescued from the cross.
  • Barrabas: Young thief who loved Miriam and arranged for Joachim's rescue
  • Obadiah: Young, poor, a sort of gang member. Miriam loved him. He helped Barrabas to rescue Joachim from his cross.
  • Joseph of Aramathea: A man of learning, a healer, a good friend of Miriam and Joachim.
  • Miriamne (also named Mary by the Romans) from Magdala: Probably Mary Magdalene; a daughter of a good friend of Joseph of Aramathea. The two Marys were almost like sisters; one serious (Miriam), the other (Miriamne) light-hearted.
