“I loved the Italy portion, was not as taken with the India portion and enjoyed the time in Bali. I listened to this on CD, read by the author and her tone of voice I suspect really enhanced the story over reading it on paper. ”

I'm glad they chose it because I really enjoyed it. Interestingly, the book group members either loved it or hated it - no inbetweens. Some thought the author was self-serving and whiney. Others like me enjoyed the humor and self-discovery.”

But Gilbert is such a good writer and brings you into her world so well, that I was hooked in the first few pages. Written with an easy wit and biting insight. ”

It was mostly this woman's rantings and ravings about her own life and depression. It was also filled with a spiritual quest I personally don't believe in. There was some Jesus bashing, which I am not okay with! I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. ”

“I enjoyed the book but in the first two chapters I thought that the author had a difficult time staying with the story line. She kept going off on different tangents about herself that were not relevant or that might have been injected to add length. ”
