Good book. Tha main idea is that the Internet gives huge opportunity to collaboration for people and companies. Fast knowledge storage and transfer. Wikinomics has several things in common with another grate book The Long Tail. Customers have become producers and the Internet brings a lot of customers and in the same time a lot of production making by the same cusomers. Wikinomics shows four basic postulates of Online era - openness , peering , sharing , acting globally. Here is most notable for me phrases: (age of participation) and (new form of online collectivism).
I've made MindMap of this book.

I liked this book, and it opened my eyes to many other "community-driven" technologies/companies. While I thought a lot of the ideas were very "common sense", it was well written, and had some great anecdotes. I recommend this book for anyone interested in social networking, building communities, etc.

It's repetitive in places so skip around, but the nuggets of truth about our future economy are laid out between this books covers. I'm heavily involved in internet culture and the future is collaboration. Read this book and get an idea of how business will be run in years to come.

This is a good survey of the business and web climate as of 2006. It is exciting to read and hear about all the innovation occurring.

This book is good, but only from the perspective of someone who knows very little about what is going on with Web 2.0 and Open Source.

I ordered the book as soon as it was published....and then it sat on my shelf for 6 months before I had time to read it. So, should I kick myself for not reading it sooner? Will my friends hate me for not recommending this to them months ago?

Probably not. Its a good read and on an interesting topic, but as with so many books aimed at the popular market, it gets a bit carried away with its message. Yes, collaboration is important, and yes the web and the so-called web 2.0 technologies allow us to collaborate with many more people than before, but the extent "mass collaboration will change everything" is open to debate.

Personally I am interested in both the role of collaboration in the knowledge economy and web 2.0 technologies, so it was of interest to me and I'm glad I read it. There are however a limited number of people I will recommend it to.

BEST BUSINESS BOOK of the year.

I think Tapscott and Williams have shown great skill in recognizing the powerful disruptive forces of Mass Collaboration, and in relating good stories to support their primary themes: OPEN, P2P, SHARING, GLOBAL..

By inviting readers to continue conversations with the authors and the rest of the world, the book includes a challenge to the reader to add their stories to the book as Chapter 11 - The Wikinomics Playbook.

We have accepted that challenge and will be reviewing and repackaging the key elements of wikinomics and several of Tapscott's recent speaking presentations which add greatly to the power of the book. We hope everyone interested in this powerful business book will join in the conversations.

Although our ConversationBase for Wikinomics is under construction, you can get the flavor of what we are doing at my blog
