It was truly Da Vinci Codish - a great idea, decent suspense, but stereotypical, unbelievable characters and mediocre writing. A much more literary mystery I enjoyed recently is Case Histories by Kate Atkinson. And if you're into the...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“This book was, in my opinion really original. A lost Shakespeare play and the hunt to find it. I found the plot really well constructed and the characters very human and accessible. It also had enough extraordinary things in it to make it interesting and fun.”

The writing and story got better at the end, but the middle was extremely slow. The background references to history and Shakespeare were not very well written, and so the storyline became confusing. Several reviews I read referred to lots of action, but even that was not very well written, and was not consistent. Personally, I wouldn't really recommend this book unless you're a Shakespeare fan. On the other hand, lots of people gave it good reviews.”

Author combines information/facts on Shakespeare with fiction to write a story similar to a National Treasure storyline. Sometimes a little confusing d/t not knowing a bunch about Shakespeare and all of his works, so sometimes too wordy for me and d/t the similarity to National Treasure, it was somewhat predictable - I still give it 3 1/2 stars and really did enjoy reading the last part best. ”

Due to this, the plot and climax may not blow you away, but it is a fun, enjoyable read. ”

Once again about secret codes and finding and solving clues. This story had the same character in each chapter (didn't switch around). Very interesting, very thought provoking, I could see this as made into a movie with Julia Roberts as the main character. It interestingly infers that the real William Shakespeare was not who we think. Part of the book is even set in Cedar City, UT at the Shakespearean Festival. Very good story that keeps you guessing to the end.”
