Valen, Pureblood Sorceror who never could learn to cast spells (and was thus a huge disappointment) had been forcibly returned to his family and since sold by his hateful father into the dubious service of the bastard Prince Osriel, who wants the crown and is willing to war with his two brothers for it. But Harrower priestess Sila Diaglou wants to destroy the world. And the Lighthouse Cabal wants to save all knowledge from the pending apocalypse. And the Danae guardians are losing touch through treachery. Caught in the middle of such forces, Valen needs to learn his heritage so he can figure out what to do. ”

I loved this book, but I will say if you are bothered by the books that throw challenges at the hero, until you feel overwhelmed yourself, then this isn't for you. However, I found it a deep and well developed story with an honest look at how the pain in life often brings us to a true understanding of ourselves. It is the second in a two book saga.”
