Kids, I put it to you that if you haven’t read this book by Ms Judith McNaught, you haven’t lived. You think I’m joking? No my friends, I no joke. This book is utterly fabulous and is one of the most quoted books in the history of all time (and books) since I, Sheridan Sakura Carlotta met La Lola (second only to “Double Standards“, another great classic). There is no way you cannot love this book. No way. It is a book that will stand the test of time as it contains the required holy trinity of all Romance novels - The Passion, The Misunderstanding, and The Grovel - to an exceptional degree that you cannot help but wipe a tear away from the corner of your eyes when talking about it in hushed reverent tones.

Jason Fielding is our male lead of the book and is possibly one of Ms Judith McNaught’s most tortured heroes of all time. Born and raised in India, Jason lands in the hands of some crazy religious white man who whips him to beat the devil out of him and makes him beg to the gathered crowds. He is rescued by a friendly sailor-man who becomes somewhat of a father figure to Jason but the damage is done and Jason is a psychologically scared, jaded, cynical, cold man, albeit rich, titled, maddeningly intelligent and dangerously good looking (jet black hair and piercing green eyes (*swoon*)). Proof that the good Lord is fair and just. Sadly, life hasn’t really cut Jason any slack when we first meet him. Jason’s first wife is scheming adulterous bitch of a cow who runs away from him with their son (whom he loves very much) onto a ship headed to America I believe and through a stroke of even more bad luck (ooh Jason, come to mommy and let me comfort you!), the ship is caught in a terrible storm and sinks.

Very romantic and very funny comic scenes. Jason's description seems heavenly *sigh*

Very romantic! Judith McNaught really knows how to incorporate romance and give it a nice twist.......

Well, I think this book is very wonderful. I like it as same as I've ever liked Whitney, my love. This book has a little dark, sorrow but cute and warm and make me feel happy 'til the end.
I love Jason, he isn't gentleman, he isn't perfect, he's rude, arrogant, heartless but inside "He is the very soul of amiability and kindness!”
I love Victoria. I think she's a ferfect match for Jason with angel-like, tender, patient and brave.
And I like almost character, they make the story more better

Pretty good - so far I have liked all of her books. Beginning is usually slow but by the end you can't put it down.

My absolute favorite of all of McNaught's historical romances. While I haven't purchased a new romance novel in years, I find myself pulling this one off my shelf. Jason and Tori are one of the best couplings in romance novel history.

This is one of those books that make you sigh with contentment when you read the last page.
